River Scramble!

The first picture of the High Adventure blog and it appropriately features children up to their necks in water and er.... adventure! Some hilarious expressions.....

After the challenge to see how deep we could go in the water we then started the next task - to make an 'ant raft'!

Some turned this into another excuse to just get really, really wet!

Finally we unleashed our ant rafts - look! We're pointing at them!
 The scramble continued.....

 Lovely smiles.....
...followed by faces of extreme horror at the bitter cold water!

The next challenge - we had five minutes to build the tower with the most stones possible...
This group were very resourceful and took clay from the bank of the river to reinforce their towers!
 This was time consuming, however.....

 The winning tower (above)!
We found another use for the clay though - tribal warpaint!
What a happy bunch! Smiles all round.

Time for a few games on the grass to warm up.....

....followed by a brief period in a black and white world.

Here is a door knob. This also featured in the aforementioned tower.
A new game - get as wet as you possibly can! Which, it turns out, it very wet indeed.

If you've been paying attention it may come as no surprise who our winner was. His prize - a welly of water on the head!

Home (from home) and (not quite) dry!

A lovely view from the centre.

  1. Looks great fun, but the kids shouldn't have had all the fun, shame Mr. Sturgess & Mrs. Wraites didn't get chance to go in the River! I'm sure they were desperate to, it looks so refreshing!!
